BECOME A MEMBER
River King is always seeking like-minded people to become active members who participate in Club events and take to heart what it means to support the Newfoundland breed. We are a group that works hard and plays hard. We are fortunate to have club members with many years of experience who enjoy sharing their knowledge in fun, easy-going ways. Whether you have beginner, intermediate, or advanced knowledge, there is a place for you here. Join us and become a member of the Newfoundland community.
APPLICATION PROCESS
It is recommended that all prospective Member(s) strive to attend at least one meeting,
Club event, or activity before applying for Membership. Each new applicant shall obtain two River King sponsors before submitting the application. Sponsors can be obtained by attending a Club event or activity. If sponsorship cannot be obtained, the Club's Membership Engagement Chairperson will provide assistance. Dues for the current fiscal year shall be paid at the time of application.
The Board of Directors will discuss the application within 14 days. If the Board determines the application should move forward, the Corresponding Secretary will notify current membership of the applicant's name, allowing 30 days for a return response with any comments or concerns about the applicant. The Board will discuss any comments or concerns raised by the membership following the 30 days and prior to their vote. The Board may vote in person or by electronic media or virtual platform. The application must be approved by a Board vote of 2/3.
.If Membership has been granted, the Corresponding Secretary shall transmit new Member information to the Membership Engagement Chair for a Welcome packet to be sent. If Membership is delayed or denied, the Corresponding Secretary or Sponsors will notify the applicant.
In addition to the above-stated requirements, any person who operates a professional kennel or is engaged in the breeding of dogs and the sale of puppies shall, upon request of the Board, submit to an inspection of the kennel or other premises by the Board or its designated representative.
